Ferry from Lautoka to Savusavu,FijiCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
I got the Bligh Waters Shipping Ltd. website on the internet and while they listed a ferry running from Lautoka to Savusavu, when I tried to access their website schedules, the page was blank.Has anyone used this service recently or have they gone out of business? The Moon guide for Fiji doesn't even mention the company operating out of Lautoka. Thanks in advance......
Perhaps someone living on Fiji will provide more up-to-date info. In the meantime: When I was on Fiji the Lautoka-Savusavu route was not running, only the Sulivan ferry between Suva and Savusavu and Taveuni. Patterson Brothers also have ferries between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu - also from Suva. I don't know if the one from north of Viti Levu still runs. Considering a certain degree of 'flexibility' in how things run in Fiji, as a last resort you can simply ask for most recent information about Lautoka route when you arrive. Considering that the ferries would not be daily anyway, and that there are options out of Suva, AND that a bus to Suva from Nadi/Lautoka plus a ferry from Suva would not be appreciably slower, then you at least have other options. | 1
Bligh Water Shipping. Ph 666 8229 in Lautoka and 885 3191 in Savusavu. The Moon Guide is by far the best guide. However there is a new kid on the block now. The Rough Guide. It's not bad, but not as good as Moon. | 2
Thanks,my friends.I'll be calling Bligh Water shipping when I get to Nadi.Buena suerte..... | 3
The Ferry from Lautoka to Savusavu is the MV Westerland, she had engine problems and now is up and running. She does 3 trips a week to Savusavu and once a month to the Island of Rotuma. Bligh Water is currently working on its website and hope's to have up and running soon. | 4
