Ferry from Vanua Levu to vita Levu

Planning on flying to Taveuni next week and return by preferably the fastest ferry from vanua Levu to vita Levu are there choices ?
Also recommended reasonable priced accommodation, on Taveuni and main island south coast dont need diving or a beach pool is ok but near public transportation thanks

Not sure if ferry to Vanua Viti still running....there was a problem that stopped it a while ago....Check ......anyways...it will not be running on time. There is a small passenger only boat that runs daily between Taveuni and Vanua Levu This ticket includes a bus ride along the south coast of Vanua Levu to Savusavu and can also continue on to Labasa.

On Taveuni the best budget accommodation is Maravu Lodge....about 1 mile from Matei airstrip. Was once a hotel but now run down a bit and a favorite for backpackers as they have dorms as well as private bures. Very good food too. Nice little beach across the road. Take lots of cash as ATM as only one ATM on island and that is in the small town. Also, if you want to use the local bus that runs up and down the island on North and South routes three times a day....you need a bus payment card (used throughout Fiji) and it is best to acquire that at a Vodaphone store before arriving in Taveuni so you are ready to hop on the bus in front of the hotel. There are a couple of small stores just past the airport for snacks etc.

I want to return by boat from the main island of Vanua Levu to vita Levu I am told it takes three hours but don’t have details? Also when I get on buses around Nadi I just give money no problem when wouldn’t that work on Taveuni

It is actually illegal for the bus drivers to let you pay with cash but some will........

The large express buses eg Lautoka to Suva, or round the main island, you buy a ticket before you get on the bus and a conductor checks it. there are small express buses as well, but generally only used by locals.

I was talking about the local buses when I was talking about the bus pass....not the big express coaches.

Got the Suncity ferry today from Taveuni to Natewa on vanua Levu took two hours left At 8am cost 15 fJ including the bus to Savusavu which meets the boat and takes 1 hour and a half hours fun scenic journey. Ferry runs every day plus another bigger one runs at other times
No problem with buses on Taveuni there are only three a day and they all take cash off tourists 3 or 4 fJ

Ferry go 3 times a week from Suva and 3 times from Suvusavu takes 11 hours 65 FJ $
