Ferry or canoe from Fiji to Tonga

Is it possible to take a boat from Fiji to Tonga, rather than fly back into Australia to hub back out again?

IIRC it's around 400 miles from Fiji to the nearest Tongan Island-the chances of your finding a 'canoe' to ferry you over are remote.

See if the plane from Fiji to Vava'u is running yet if so it's your best bet.

A few years ago I flew from Fiji to Tonga via samoa with air pacific, they are based in fiji.

Forget boats.
