Fiji 13 days

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

hello there
i’m thinking of doing something like this:
1 night in nadi the day i arrive
next day boat to the yasawas, 6 nights there
back to the main island, go to navala for 2 nights
then ovalau (still not sure where to take the boat) for 2 nights
then suva for 2 nights
and back to nadi for one last night
9am flight out the next day

::: what do you think? do you recommend any changes? your suggestions are much much appreciated!

Sounds fine to me.

Apart from the museum, Suva does not offer much, .... for us...
Cheers,
Peter

thanks guys :)
i'm so curious with fiji!
not my typical travel destination, but happy to do something a little different ;)

We once took a 3 day trip around Viti Levu by local bus. Great way to get an appreciation of the different terrains involved and to meet a few locals.
Cheers,
Peter

I agree with Peter and suggest taking a bus around Viti Levu.

Here are some suggestions:
- Stay 1 day less at Yasawas so you can see more of normal Fiji
- 2 days Navala village
- bus trip north, stop and look at towns of Ba or Rakiraki and stay overnight at VoliVoli.
- Then bus down the east coast. Takalana Bay is a good place to stay and take a trip to moon reef

- Continue down the coast and get a boat over to Ovalau (there is a ferry from Navoti jetty, but don't know if it's the only one. Head to Suva one night (visit museum) and Grand or Holiday Inn Hotels.

- Bus to Sigatoka and stay one night. Bus back to Nadi

I actually enjoy Suva, both the city itself and the nearby Colo i Suva Forest Reserve.

On the round Viti Levu trip, I found the Sigatoka area the most interesting: the Sand Dunes NP, the Tongan fort ruins and of course various beaches.

On reflection, I think you may spread yourself thin and not have enough time to explore.
How about going to less places and exploring more.
I agree with Laszlo about Sigatoka being good to visit.
Perhaps you can go to Navala Village or Namosi Eco Retreat https://www.facebook.com/namosieco/
(which I have visited twice and love)
then Suva and return
I suggest skip Ovalau this time

VoliVoli was our favorite weekend spot when we were living in Lautoka, but I think the backpacker accomodation has gone now in favor of more up market offerings. Take a 15 minute cab ride from RakiRaki to get there.
There is quite a nice beach at RakiRaki, unlike the Coral Coast which is just that - coral.
Cheers,
Peter
