Fiji accommodation & best place for 8 days - please help!Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hello fellow travelers, My husband and I will be spending 8 days in Fiji in November as part of our honeymoon and despite of all the reading we've done, we still can't make up our minds which way to go. Thus, any advice and all recommendations are very welcome! We first thought to stay three days on Viti Levu (day trips) and then five days at Blue Lagoon Resort at Nacula island. Then we thought that perhaps we'll skip the main island and combine Octopus Resort or Paradise Cove with Blue Lagoon, so we'll have 8 beautiful days on two smaller islands. The things is, however, that we'd really like to have a quiet and relaxing honeymoon days, but Blue Lagoon is not willing to garantee any specific rooms, so we might be placed next to the restaurant which, what we've heard/read, can be quite loud. Also, they said that there are often many families with small kids, so it can be loud anyway. Can you please share your experience? Should we be concerned? At this point we don't seem to find any better options for the budget we have (ca 250, max 300 USD for the two per night, preferrably at least some food included). We consider this quite a lot of money, but it seems that we're not getting much above "average" in Fiji for that. Or are we overlooking something? We're willing to consider any other islands, too, as long as we won't lose a lot of time on traveling and there are nice beaches & options for water sports. Even better if the place is not touristy and there are also walking/hiking/etc options. Thank you very much for any help & happy travels!
I advocate skipping the mainland. I wish I had. No, you should not be concerned about the noise. Blue Lagoon is a small resort and very peaceful. Octopus is larger and can get a bit wilder, but it's still pretty subdued. I hate noise and most kids, but had zero issues at these places. Nanuya Island also gets very good reviews if you haven't checked it out as another possible option. | 1
I'm writing this from Blue Lagoon where i've spent past 3 days. It's heaven - everything the reccomendayions say and more. lots of honeymooners, but also single travellers, and people to meet. can be as sociable or alone as you want. It's not a big party place. many of the young people and couples combine a few islands / resorts on the " Bula pass", allowing travel wthru the Yasawas on the bqig yellow catamaran, the Yasawa Flyer. I think Coral View has a bit of a rep as hardcore party. Snorkellers have raved about Manta Ray. Octopus has a good vibe too according to people. but everyone who has been elsewhere and arrived in BL says it has the best food and really chilled atmosphere! | 2
One more vote for Blue Lagoon. We go there every year (with grandchildren I have to say). Personally, although there have sometimes been other children there as well as our own, we've never been bothered with noise and/or bad behaviour. Perhaps the longer journey to get there deters those with rowdy children? Anyway, in November you are outside NZ and Australian school holidays, so the likelihood of children being there is diminished. | 3
