Fiji Beach House Coral Coast

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has stayed there and what there thoughts are. We chose this place due to some good reviews on tripadvisor and that we are a small group of friends with varied interests of hiking, surfing, kayaking, etc.

Thanks!

hi - in my opinion nothing on the coral coast comes close to the yasawa islands... the beaches are frankly - well - corally.... and very shallow generally. I have not stayed at the beach house as it has been closed for the filming of a reality tv show for the last year - but last time I went past it did appear to be open again. its been recently done up for the show I believe, so if you must stay on the coral coast it might be ok.... if you are into staying on a main road miles from anything else.... do yourself a favour - go to octopus on waya or bethams at nananu-i-ra, or voli voli near raki raki, or ... waisalima on kadavu is ok, and does feature a five hour hike that is really not for the faint hearted - I am still recovering. There is a kayaking group that go there once a year and paddle around the island over two weeks.... its ok, but again not as great as the yasawas. If you need to be near the coral coast I would suggest bega island off pacific harbour as a good option - reasonable priced accomodation options, great snorkling etc. and if you are very brave you can surf not far from there - but be warned - the only surfing in Fiji is on reef breaks - dangerous, big and not for the non-expert... if you come off you land on reef.... ouch. the world championships are here but its not for amateurs...
have fun !
