fiji beachhouse????? Near Nadi??

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

hi , has anyone stayed at Fiji Beach House. its about an hour from Nadi by bus and about the same distance from Suva..

Is it a nice place to stay??? Its seems to be one of the cheapest places I ve found in Fiji.

ANy Recommendations?

I have never stayed there, so cannot advise on the accom. I did pass by on a bus (from Nadi to Suva) and it seemed to be rather isolated -- a feature that I personally didn't care about. But, it might not be bad as a base for exploring some of Viti Levu, if you want to take buses to different places. Personally I'd choose a location other than a coral coast resort. Ovalau, for example. Or even one or two of the Yasawas (admittedly more expensive on average). For how long would you plan on staying there? Perhaps the choice will depend on how willing you are to stay in one resort for X number of days.

A minor correction, bus travel time will be closer to 2-2.5 hours each way, depending on type of bus, not 1 hour.

I have stayed at the Beachhouse 2 years ago on my way back from Suva to Nadi. Its a nice backpackers accomodation ! But you cannot swim there actually, and there's lots of mosquitos but otherwise its a very nice cheap backpackers accomodation.

We stayed there in April 07 for about 5 days and really liked it. The bure are modern and very spacious and the whole area is very clean. People are nice, the food is good (although very european and no fresh fruits) and the mosquitoes were around but not too many.

HOWEVER: If you think about diving, do not go to Mike's Divers, unless you bring your own equipment. Their equipment is old, worn and broken and the PADI diving course was a disaster. We got the certificate at the end, but the course was not enjoyable.
