Fiji five hour stopover

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Bula! I have a five-hour stopover in Nadi for a flight from Australia to the US, arriving at 5pm local time. With delays and disembarking and boarding again it's probably going to be more like 3 hours of waiting around.
I can sit in the airport reading a book happily enough, but is there anything to drag me away from the airport for such a brief stopover? Any nearby markets or shops or anything or am I better off just finding a quiet corner and waiting for the next flight.

Nadi Airport has nothing going for it and you would be lucky to find a quiet comfortable seat. Walk across the road to Raffles Gateway (5 minutes), they have a pleasant outdoor eating area/bar, nice gardens. You can sit by the pool and read your book!

Thank you. I might just do that. There's no safety issues walking around after dark? I remember walking to a McDonalds in Nadi a few years ago and felt a little edgy.......

No problem walking to Raffles - I'd do it on my own (60 plus Grandma!). You just walk down the road from the airport and cross the main road, go straight into Raffles gate on the other side.

Ok thank you muchly!

get a 30 min cab ride to denaru harbour for dinner then back, or blow a bit more time thereafter having a coffee at any of the near by string of 5 star places
