Fiji for 10 days in May

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

We're travelling to Fiji for 10 days in late May and are looking for suggestions on places to stay, islands to go to, and general itinerary. I'm a scuba diver so I'd like to get a few dives in while I'm there, and we'd like to spend some time relaxing on the beach as well as hiking/exploring. We'd also like to experience some traditional Fijian culture. It would be nice to get a bit of nightlife, but we're not looking for a 24/7 party resort.

We'd like to go to probably 2 locations, maybe 3-4 days in a local village and 6-7 days at a beach resort.

Our budget is pretty limited, as we're coming off 3 months travelling around New Zealand, so we're looking for cheap accommodation and aren't adverse to cooking our own meals, etc.

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

why not combined scuba diving with culture at Lawaki Beach House on Beqa Island

search google for the Beqa Lagoon Fiji and you will find out how good it is for diving. You can even dive with the sharks.

Thanks for the plug, but that's much more expensive than we're looking for.

Voli Voli has a good dive operation and dorms with self catering at F$31/night.
Just need to stock up on your food in Raki Raki town as there is no shop handy to the resort
Get there by local bus to Raki Raki plus a F$15 taxi ride from Raki Raki to the resort.
One of our favorite spots. Just spent Easter there.

Soni (at the bar after 3pm) can arrange tours inland, waterfalls, villages etc.

Cheers,
Peter
