Fiji - help with trip plan

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Bula.

The Mandjas are off to Fiji. There are Mr +Mrs Mandja and the 16 yo girl and 19 yo boy. This time we are going with another family - mr, mrs, 21yo girl and 19 yo boy. To add to the degree of difficulty we will be in Fiji July 1-11 (Victorian school holidays).

The plan so far is fly into Nadi, stay a night or 2 nearby , probably somewhere a bit upmarket - say 3+ stars (maybe Denerau), then off to an island place (min 4 bedrooms in total , not dorms - can be seperate eg bures of 1, 2 or more bedrooms AND ensuites)- thinking Yasawas,or Mamanucas. Then back to Nadi/Coral coast area for last couple nights.

I need help with the island part.

Ive researched the various places but a worried about availability for the island component. That is where you lot come in. Ive just emailed various island places, resorts etc but no responses yet.

Any help you can give with regard to the islands would be great.

BTW Mr and Mrs Mandja have been to the Coral Coast and Nadi/Denerau before, so familiar with that part of the trip. That said, if you can suggest somewwhere new or unusual or must see/do there, then happy to hear about that too.

Cheers.

There are not a lot of Mamanuca Island resorts that have bures that sleep 4 in 2 separate rooms.
Just look at the floor plans at the various resorts online to see what is suitable.
We tried to book our latest holiday online but Castaway would only deal with a travel agent.
Malolo Island resort used to accept 4 in a bure but no longer does so they were removed from our list.
We have instead booked at Amanuca resort in a one bedroom suite that sleeps 4.
Navini has suitable Bures and is offering a 2 bure for 1 deal but it finishes 20th March and their meal plan is compulsory.
A lot of the island resorts have sporadic internet so responses can take a while to come through.
Working our way through the Mamanuca islands, stayed at 4 last year so may be able to help if you have specific questions.

Thanks,

Navini looks nice but too small. We're ok with not being in the same bures as the kids are older teens. An issue is the cost eg Navini is $500+ for 3 people. I was hoping to spend $400 for the 4 of us (per family) plus meals MAX.

The Mamanucas do appeal as they are closer and thus less boat travel .

Thanks, smandkjc. We have now booked to saty at Oarsman's in the yasawas - Ill give my trip report on return.

Now need to get the last 3 days sorted - Denerau or Coral Coast this time. Any suggestion there? Looking to spend about FJD$300 per night per family.Want pool (with swim up bar), separate room for kids preferred tho not essential.

Have only stayed at Crusoe's Resort on the Coral Coast which was Ok.
I notice they are offering really cheap accommodation on wotif at present.
The Coral Coast or Denerau have not really appealed to us as we prefer the islands for the better snorkeling.

Many thanks to you both.

We have finally booked at Sofitel, getting a great deal - 2/3rds off
