Fiji in Febuary

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I am getting married in Febuary and my fiance and I were planning to spend our honeymoon in Tahiti. Our travel agent recommended Fiji, however, which she said is more secluded and more romantic. My research indicates that the rainy season runs from November through April but that it rains nearly everyday regardless. Can anyone give me some insight into what the weather might be like in February? Should we expect a washout?

It may rain a bit every day, or not on some days, maybe a few hours on others. It's not like a monsoon season. You'll have plenty of great sunny weather, probably. Tahiti and Fiji both get rain during that season, though the western part of Fiji (Mamanucas, Yasawas) probably gets a little less, in general.

Raro is right. Usually we have beautiful sunshine in february during the day, with strong, cooling showers late afternoon or night, which explains the "rainy season" because the amount of rainfall fills up the measuring cups. On the contrary, the so-called dry season often has more grey days, with little but constant drizzle rain ( not this year though).
Your location in Fiji might be important - this February/March there were floodings in Suva/ Nadi and Labasa, whereas we here on Ovalau had a water shortage - because it hardly rained at all.

Please don't hold me liable should my "prediction be wrong" - we also see a climate change here in the South Pacific, just like every else in the world.
