Fiji in November?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Greetings, Me, my wife and our toddler are flying into Nadi in early November to spend 9 days in Fiji and are wondering which places would offer the best chances of decent weather around that time. We understand the wet season starts to kick off in earnest in November, so grateful if you can give some tips. We hope to go somewhere with stunning beaches and water. From what I understand, the Coral Coast probably doesn't cut it next to the likes of the Mamanucas or Yasava islands, but can anyone recommend a particular island that might have a decent resort that would be toddler-friendly? A final question -- we are landing in Nadi at around 3:45pm. Does that give us time to clear customs and jump on a boat to a resort on the Mamanucas or would we have to spend a night nearby? If so, would welcome any tips for a decent hotel, whether at Denerau or elsewhere. We have a budget of about US$200 a night. Many thanks,
The "Naviti Resort "on the coral coast is great for families. Nice small well kept beach. Its sister resort the Warick is a bit more upmarket with a lovely beach, only 10 mins from the Naviti. Another 30 mins from the Naviti is Pacific Harbour which has the best beach along the coast. It has two resorts right on the beach check them out on the web; "The Uprising" and "The Pearl" The weather should be okay in November, it is normally Dec and Jan we have lots of rain, | 1
Mana Resort is regarded as being very child friendly and has beautiful beaches. One can transfer by helicopter or sea plane but they are expensive. I think the normal ferries depart at 9, 12 and 3 so you may be out of luck. But I think I did read a while back that they were thinking of putting on a 5pm departure but that may still be cutting it fine. If you decide to do an overnighter, look at Raffles. Very popular for just this purpose and you could have an early start the next morning. This is the link to Mana's website but there are lots of other alternatives. | 2
Thanks for the tips guys, much appreciated. | 3
Check out Natadola Beach, there are 3 resorts there (although one is adults only but you can eat there). Only 1 hour from the airport and the best beach in Fiji. Save yourself the cost of Island transfers. Otherwise Treasure Island is great, we took our 18 month old there last October. | 4
November is going to be rolling the dice with weather on most islands. Still though the rain doesn't last long during the day, unless of course you hit an early cyclone. As for child-friendly resorts, there aren't many places in Fiji that aren't child-friendly. It's not some marketing ploy that Fijians by and large love children, and have no problems spending long hours looking after them, men or women. On the island of Taveuni is a resort called Paradise, Taveuni and it is quite loaid back, with some decent activities, and child care, as the Australian owners have two children that meander through guests as well with their nanny in toe. http://www.paradiseinfiji.com/tag/paradise-taveuni/ Where-ever you go I'm sure you'll have a relaxing and memorable time, Fiji and the Fijians are great :) | 5
