Fiji Itinerary?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I'm coming for about 8 days at the end of the month, and I'm trying to nail down my plans. Here is what definitely want so far

Definites:

2 shark dives at Beqa adventure divers

Round of golf at Pearl Championship golf course

Either a day of scuba diving at Wananavu resort, or we fly to taveuni and do a day of scuba diving there.

Maybes:

We may do rafting with the rivers fiji but it sounds like it takes all day so thats losing it's appeal.

Snorkeling with Manta Rays(we've done this before so it's not as appealing)

Here are the hotels we're considering(availability overall is tough at most places). We're looking for places in the 100-250 range USD. We want a place that is on the water with nice views(what you'd imagine fiji to be like), so it seems like the denarau island places arent great choies. It would be a huge plus to be able to do some great snorkeling right from our hotel shores.

Mana Island Resort

Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji

Botaira Beach Resort

Malolo Island Resort

Naviti Resort

Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island

Any tips or critique would be great. It's hard to decide if the extra expense to fly to taveuni is worth it because we know they have amazing diving, but the travel expense over diving with Wananavu is significant. THanks!

Consider VoliVoli for the dive up north instead of Wananavu (they are close). They have an excellent reputation and possibly cheaper.
For the snorkelling at a resort, go to the Yasawas. We liked Nanuya a lot. Smaller and friendly. They have Scuba there too.
Rivers Fiji is tops, but you would need at least 1 day.

Cheers,
Peter

I did 2 months volunteering on a marine conservation project on Beqa. The island is just beautiful, and the diving is incredible. See if you can arrange a night dive when you are over there. Incredibly eerie and beautiful experience. Heaps of big sharks too!
