| landerwyoming16:06 UTC19 Dec 2009 | Hi Looking for opinions/thoughts. I am taking a sabbatical next year and looking at coming to fiji to do some volunteer work with my family (2 adults 2 kids) The place we have found to work at is in nadi/namaka. Trying to decide if we should work in fiji 2months or 5-6 months, splitting the rest of the time with new zealand and micronesia. I have spent 3-4 months in new zealand (20 years ago) but now with family trying to sort out the best option. Would like to enroll kids in school and rent a place. Is nadi/fiji a place that people would recommend to stay in/live/base out of for weekend trips or better for tourism. Obviously it all depends etc (We live in a small town and travel quite a bit) but have never been there and thought I would inquire. The cultural mix sounds interesting in fiji but maybe that is just "on the cover" Not reallly interested in party beach scene. Thanks for thoughts LW

Fiji is well-known, and is also the place where many regional agencies are based, meaning they get the lion's share of volunteers. There are many other places that need your serivces more than Fiji.

Cheers
