Fiji with little kidsCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
I am planning a week in Fiji in August with my two little girls, they will be 4 and nearly 2. I will also be with my parents and sister. Where should we stay? Are there nicer islands with good beaches and a good resort? Qantas Holidays has packages with all the following resorts: Would love to hear your recommendations (and non-recommendations!) of resort or just good areas.
There are nicer beaches on the Islands but you have to weigh up the additional transfer times and the fact you are limit in your food and actiivty options. if you are happy to sit and enjoy the beach and eat at the only places the resort offers then you will be fine heading to the islands and you wil have a nicer beach experience. The outrigger is good for kids, had a good kids club when I visit for the day with my daughter. Plus its only a short walk from a strip of other restaurants that are seperate from the resort on Sunset Strip. You probably wont want to do many activities with the little ones but directly across the road is Kula park which little kids enjoy. The beaches arent as nice but the certainly are a far cry from being bad. I love the Coral Coast and I love the beaches there so everyone to their own :-) Enjoy | 1
The Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour is amazing. They run tons of fun activities out of there. I didn't go with kids, but there was something going on every day. The beaches are ok, but there's a great pool. I was staying next door and spent all of my time there. Met a couple who said the rooms were really nice. On a recent trip to Fiji I stayed at both Castaways, Radisson and the Outrigger as well as visiting Malolo to see their newly renovated rooms. Without a doubt they all have good kids club programs. The newly renovate Malolo has very nice bures that are like brand new. I did find they lacked a Fijian feel though. Castaways is amazing and would be my first choice for families - great beach, amazing staff, nice bures, good food, lots to do for kids and adults alike or just enjoy the great beach and snorkeling! If you need to do a night on the mainland then the Radisson is a great choice - very nice rooms, with everything you need. But I would not stay in Denerau that long myself. The Outrigger has beautiful grounds, a very nice free form pool, great spa if you want some pampering and is well located on the Coral Coast if you want to take advantage of the activites they have to offer on the main island that you can't get staying on an outer island. If you are beach lovers though - head to Castaways. If you would to see some photos I took of the Outrigger here is a link (sorry I don't have Castaways organized yet): Hope this helps you out! One more thing...here is a link to a video of one of the rooms at Castaway - an Oceanview Bure. They are in the process of redoing all the bathrooms and this is one of the old style bathrooms.....which is still very good! | 4
The Naviti is fantastic for children. Great also for adults. My first choice if I still had little ones would be Naviti. Been there often and have observed. | 5
