Fijian schools for donations?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Bula! This message might be a bit late since we're already in Fiji, but my husband, 3yo son and I have a suitcase full of items we'd like to donate to a Fijian village school. I'm a bit wary of donating them to the schools in the villages the resorts recommend because I bet everyone goes to them. Does anyone here have a suggestion for a village/school where they perhaps don't see so many tourists and would welcome some supplies? I realise it's school holidays, but am happy to leave them there with someone until school re-opens in a couple of weeks. We are happy to rent a car to get somewhere if need be. We are staying at Denarau and we're thinking of perhaps going inland? Further away from resorts and tourists? Ideas/suggestions very welcome! Thanks!
its true most of the resorts have staff who come from villages, so they tend to support those villages, there could be some special needs from some of the areas that have been flooded recently, you could check in Nadi if there are any collections going on. | 1
There has been massive flooding in Fiji just before Christmas and your gifts will be appreciated as many people lost possessions when their homes flooded. I would target those areas closer to the coast. | 2
