finding books to read and copy of 'lonely planet' in Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi,
Just wondering if it's easy to pick up a second hand copy of the Fiji Lonely Planet while in Fiji? I'm leaving in a couple of days and don't want the stress of another thing to do...and they're expensive!
I'm imagining that maybe they're available at book exchange libraries at hostels. Is this true?
In general I'm also hoping there's a hostel/hotel book exchange system because I read books very fast and am always needing to replace them...

Get yourself a Kindle....
Can't speak for anywhere except Lautoka, but finding books of any sort (except Christian) was extremely difficult.
You may find something at the multitude of second hand cloths shops, but the pickings are pretty thin.
Many expats swap amongst themselves.

Cheers,
Peter

There is a very small book exchange at Bulaccino in Suva, the coffee is good there, but you have to bring a book to take a book, and yes most of the books may be something you are not interested in. I know resorts like Leleuvia have books that people can read while staying there and other resorts may have the same system.

I found it easy to find 2nd hand books in Suva, with some shops specializing in them.
However, they were stocking general titles (lots of novels, etc) not LPs.

I guess hostels in Nadi might be your best bet to try and buy a used LP off a departing backpacker, but otherwise, just get a new one.

If the price difference between a used and a new LP guide is a real headache for you, I wonder how you are planning to survive in Fiji...
