FJD Devaluation?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

There has been a news report - http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25337365-401,00.html
saying that the Fiji $ has ben "devalued by 20% the day afetr the sacking of the Fijian Reserve Bank Governor, but xe.com (still says FJD$1.25 = AUD $1 ) say that it hasnt happened - anyone here know whats up with the FJD?

It is true, but I noticed too, that x-change rates online are still same. Even the converter at www.fijitimes.com still gives you old rate. But talked to someone who has changed US$ at Westpac Fiji yesterday afternoon, he did get F$ 2 for US$ 1 as compared to F$ 1.70 for US 1 last week.
And once you are coming back to Fiji also get used to the new 10, 20 and 50 cent coins! The old ones are not accepted anymore after 30 April.

The old Fijian coins worked well in the laundromat here-maybe I can buy some cheap next I'm in Fiji!

1 euro bought 2.90 fiji today, 1 us = 2f$

3

I also see the FJD now = AUD$1.35 - better, but not 20% better

Finally !

www.xe.com now quote the FJD = AUD$1.52....yay!
