Hi there, I'm due to get to Fiji on the 22nd of January, and I was wondering about the current flooding situation from anyone there? What's the situation presently? Would you recommend cancelling the trip?
I think you should consider postponing your trip until a latter date. Freinds I have spoken to have said things are really bad over there with bridges washed away and roads badly damaged. Also it looks like it's going to rain for a few days yet and who knows after that.Lack of medical care would be enough to put me off. | 1
Floods in tropical areas usually clear up nearly as quickly as they arrive. I wouldnt cancel. | 2
Given that you are due to go in one week, if unsure, why not wait until a day or so before to make up your mind.Any cancellation fees levied today will likely be the same in a few days. | 3
I'm due to travel on the 28th of Jan and will most likely postpone my trip. I'm quite bummed about it, but I would rather wait until the cyclone season is up. I was only planning to be there for a week but I wouldn't want to waste on or two days doing nothing because of heavy rains or getting stranded in any way, hopefully I can make it in June when I'll be sure to have one week well spent. | 4
Keep up with the situation on the Fiji Times website before you cancel the trip. | 5

First - there was no cyclon as many people believe, it was days of extrem heavy rain - which is unsual for the country. But Nadi floods with less amount of rain, so does Labasa. It was bad especially in the west - here in the East we had no floodings. Queens highway is open. A lot of backroads are still closed, but you would have been going through those anyway. www.fijilive.com actually has an update on which roads are still closed. the airports are open Pacific sun flies to most destination, Air Fiji cancelled, but this has not much to do with the weather - they have not serviced a lot of destinations since weeks. | 7
Don't be silly - GO!!! | 8 | |
