Floods in Nadi

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

My husband and I are travelling to Nadi on 19 Feb for a week, and hoping to visit some of the nearby islands. I know the airport is open, but can anyone tell me the state of Nadi Town itself since the flooding, the shops, restaurants, tourist places? Is the water subsided and things back to normal? It is very difficult to get up to date information, but I can see it's still raining there. Also, are the tourist operators still running day trips to the islands, I believe they stopped them for a few days during the height of the floods? Thanks! Denise

We live in Lautoka.
I think things are pretty much back to normal, but I have not actually been down there.

Cheers,
Peter

Some more local flooding in Nadi yesterday, especially close to the river.

I live in Nadi. Things are pretty much back to normal. A few shops closed and roads damaged but you likely will not notice. They are pretty good at cleaning up after floods here, even though it seems to always take them by surprise.

Boats to this islands are running normally, but subject to weather conditions. We are in the heart of the the wet/cyclone season after all.
