getting around

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

just a quick question

the awesome adventure and fiji experience tours seem to get good reviews but doesanyone have any experience of making their own way around , say around the main island by buses and then around the yasawas taking indivdual ferries etc

how does it weigh up in terms of both ease and expense ie is any extra hassle really or are these ferries/boats trips good value and save a lot of bother?

also is it relativley easy to just book accomadation when you reach the islands/places

thanks in advance for any help

Viti Levu is easy by bus, not fast or always comfortable (because of rain blowing in open windows occasionally), people are friendly it's cheap and the food is decent.

If you want to see the real Fiji do it yourself otherwise you'll be stuck aboard a closed circuit with people all speaking English, drunk most of the time.
