Good places to go in Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

hey guys,

I am going to Fiji for 9 to 10 days. I am looking for a good mixture of places to go that gives me a good experience of Fiji. I like parting, but not too much. I am a budget traveller, so tips for keeping your costs down are welcome. What do you think. What are good places to go to that gives me a good experience of Fiji in 9 to 10 days?

Any advice is welcome.

thanx!

Nathan

Head for the mananuca and yasawas islands.

Yes, if you wanna spend most of your time with other travellers go west, if rather with genuine hospitality from locals go east.
in either case enjoy

as #3 says, if what you mean by Fiji experience is a holiday with other vacationers, then go to the Yasawas. If you mean Fiji the country, then head west. The island of Ovalau off the west coast of Viti Levu has a lot of variety -- jungle hikes, colonial town of Levuka, some reef island resorts at Caqalai and Leleuvia.

Thanx guys!

I am looking for some mixture between having a holiday with other vacationers and the Fijian country. I think I am going to take a couple of islands in the Yasawas / Mamanucas and then head to the east of Vita Levu for Ovalau.

I am looking forward to it!

Thanks for the advice!

It's probably a typo, but Ovalau is off the EAST coast of Viti Levu. And I think heading EAST will find less tourists, and more genuine Fijian experiences.

#6 yes, although it was more a result of scrambled thinking than just a typo

oldpro---"scrambled thinking" fits in well with Fiji these days! (govt-wise)

cheapie ideas- if you are a drinker take your full duty free alcohol allowance to the islands.

As said previously: Yasawas are awesome to meet RTW travellers...
