Holiday in Fiji-advice

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi there,
My partner & I are planning to take a 2 week holiday to Fiji and I was looking for some advice. We are looking for a beach holiday, we would want a quietish place to stay on the beach, but with enough restaurants and bars around to drink cocktails all day, and the option of snorkelling etc. Where would be the best area to visit and any hotels that you guys recommend? We would be looking to go May 2016.
Thank you
Annie & Scott :)

We would suggest Matamanoa Island Resort. Good snorkeling, 16 and over so reasonably quiet, plenty of international guests, good food and drinks.
Reasonably easy to get to. The islands are much better than the mainland if you want to snorkel and at Matamanoa you can snorkel right around the island so wind on one side will mean shelter on the other side.

Thank you, I think we would be looking for somewhere where we can leave the hotel & go elsewhere, anywhere else you would recommend?

We have had 18 holidays in Fiji and usually go to the Mamanuca's.
The main island does not really have very good snorkeling which is our main interest.
Denerau is just reclaimed swamp.

Thank you 😀

why don't you look at a 7 day local cruise, you will snorkel twice a day, have cocktails all day, visit other land areas and see lots of Fiji, they have varied food, the only mainland place with a good beach is the Intercontinental at Natadola, you could also spend some time at the Pearl at Pacific Harbour, taking a side trips to Beqa, Nabua river cruiise and also to Suva, to satisfy your food experiences

thank you, that sounds good!! I will look into it!!
