how to plan a route between Viti levu and Taveuni with some spots included?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi guys, I need your advice:
I wanna plan an itinerary between viti levu and taveuni with the following conditions:
1. arrival departure both at nadi airport.
2. probably will stay one night in marriott near nadi.

my quetions are:
1. is it hard to reach/include marriott in the plan? which is the easeast and cheap way to go there? from nadi airport with shuttle? or from nadi town, with a regular bus which goes around the island?
2. if there is a bus from either airport or nadi town which passes marriott, is it on the route to suva?
3. if both 1 and 2 are possible, is it better to do nadi airport-nadi town-marriott-suva, then take a flight or ferry from suva to taveuni, then fly from taveuni back to nadi?

thx.

if the hotel have a shuttle it may be more convenient, but there are buses that go from the airport to Suva, and cheap fares, howeover a lot of the resorts are not on the highway so you would need a taxi. A taxi itself from the airport would not be expensive, just make sure they have the meter on. You need to check about flights to Taveuni from Suva and Nadi to work out what is best for you

I just googled their website. No airport shuttle. Hotel not on main highway to Suva, so bus is also not a convenient option. They claim taxi costs F$230. Seems steep to me by Fiji standards, but perhaps the taxi drivers figure that people who go to that hotel can afford it.

It seems a lot of trouble/expense for the sake of one night at a Marriott hotel. Why not stay at a hotel that is closer to the airport, assuming you fly direct to Taveuni?

If you want to fly/ferry out of Suva, then take an express bus to Suva. You could get the bus at Nadi airport. Exact details and logistics depend on precisely how much time you want to spend at any one location (Nadi, Suva). For example, depending on your flight arrival time it may still be more convenient to stay near airport (Raffles across the road is as convenient as it gets) then get bus next morning.

a taxi to the hotel would not be $230 dollars, that is the price of a taxi to Suva from the airport, the hotel probably has special Taxis, like hotels do with higher costs, the marriott is out of the way, if you really wanted to you could get the bus to the turn off and then hail a taxi, there are always taxis on the queens road.
