Inexpensive beach place for ~3 days?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi - possibly going to Beqa next year for dive trip but want to stay a bit longer somewhere else. Would extend for a few days (no diving) to relax on nice beach, snorkel, read (quiet time). Will probably be by myself (older lady) which I don't mind at all - any suggestions for someone on a budget (after main spending goes to the dive trip)? Thanks!

Cheapest of course would be staying on "mainland" Viti Levu, but there are no really nice beaches or good snorkeling thereabouts.

So you need to get out to smaller islands.
Basically you can choose to go to either the Mamanucas or Yasawas to the West, accessed via Nadi, which would offer a lot of scenically diverse islands to choose from though they are more touristy and expensive, or to head East to Levuka and Ovalau from where 2 less visited, cheaper tiny beach islands (Caqalai and Leleuvia) could be accessed.

Thanks Laszlo - those ideas seem just what I'm looking for - I'll do more research and figure out what will work. Appreciate it!

Mickie,
We are also going on a dive trip to Beqa and are interested in extending the trip past one week. What did you find out?
