Islands with a baby

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi brains trust! Looking for a week’s stay with my mum (64 but young at heart) and my 6 month old baby (sleeps & travels well). This is my 4th trip so I know we want to go to the Mamanucas, not stay on the mainland. To give you an idea I love Paradise Cove & Nanuya Resorts but they’re just a tad too far from Nadi, just in case bub gets a fever or whatever or there’s an emergency requiring quick exit to the mainland. Resort must include:

  • Beachfront bure
  • Places to sip cocktails, preferably hammock or lounge lol
  • Secluded & quiet is good, not too full on with families/activities etc (I like the look of Castaway but it seems to lack that quiet/secluded vibe maybe?)
  • Decent snorkelling without needing a boat trip
  • Within 2 hour’s ferry ride of Denarau
  • Not too worried about price as I think most of the expensive resorts don’t allow kids anyway!

We plan to spend the days reading, eating, drinking cocktails, snorkelling & looking out to see as the sun sets! No need for planned activities. We’re also travelling in March (rainy season) so a nice room with a view in case we’re innundated would be good.

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Most of the resorts in the Mamanucas are party islands aimed at young people. I would look at places a tad further away in the Yasawas.
Cheers,
Peter
