Kadavu - 2 questions

1) I have 3 extra days in my trip to Fiji. I can spend 2 nights in KDV. Is it worth it? I am not a diver (so Astrolabe is out) but I hear the island itself is überpretty.

2) The flight from Kadavu to Suva is scheduled into Suva airport at 3:10PM. Any problems expected if I try to transfer from the airport to the bus station for the last express bus to Nadi at 5:30PM that same day? It is important that I make that bus. Is the KDV flight (Pacific Sun) usually delayed or cancelled? I flew in Fiji a few years ago and flights were late (Air Fiji) - and one time we had to skip Taveuni because we tried to land thrice and couldn't because of cloud/fog... but I have never flown Pac Sun and don't know if the airstrip (grass strip?) at KDV can frequently get shut down due to weather.

If you miss the bus to Nadi, you can almost always get a minivan ride. However, if you need to be in Nadi to catch an international flight that night, I wouldn't risk it. I don't know about the Kadavu flight in particular, but many of the Pacific Sun flights to outer islands are delayed, and its not unusual for them to be cancelled.

Thanks - you're right, if I had an intl flight that night I would not risk it. But I need to be on the west coast for a Mamanucas cruise the next morning. So I have some flexibility - although I would really not want to be on the road in the middle of the night!

Kadavu is totally worth and the only weather related issues occur when it rains soften the landing field-in that case they use a smaller plane.

HI there,

You need to ask yourself what you keen to do in Kadavu-2 nights is not worth it-expensive in getting out, and flight can be delayed.Poeple spend longer than 5 days in Kadavu as flight to get there is relatively expensive, plus to dive or game fishing etc

It depends on what you keen to do-why not try Yasawa or the Mamanucas or the Coral Coast-few places that have really nice beaches where you can just snorkel off the beach-transfers will not be an issue
