LAST MINUTE TRIP NOVEMBER 2017

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi, we ( couple 44/48) just booked a last minute flight to NADI next Sunday, staying until the 16.11. Means we have 11 nights. Time is short for research and Informations on the internet are overwhelming, that's why we ask for advice.
We have been to Rarotonga and Vanuatu before, happy with selfcatering or Village life, but Fiji seems to be a bit different.
So, that what we love.. Accomodation with privat bathroom and sea view, good snorkelling in front of the door, kayaking, willing to pay 500 Fjd per night for max of 4 nights, happy to pay much less :-). Peaceful atmosphere. The first 2 nights we are in Nadi paying 100 Fjd.
Most important: We don't like loud neighbours, doesn't matter if partypeople or families.
We dont need bushwalks, kava ceremonies, cooking lessons,...
Several questions.
1. Staying on the main Island or taking off to the outer islands due to having 11 nights?
2. Where to Stay?
3. prebooking in NOVEMBER neccesary?
4. Better booking at the resorts or Booking.com themselfes or Booking a package with the yasawaflyer?
5. scooterrental possible at the main Island?
Thanks so much for you ideas

Tha Yasawas offer much of what you want, but where I stayed was certainly not self-catering, and the food package was relatively expensive. All extras had a charge (volunteer for a day for $100!)
The Yasawas Flyer package, staying at several places, looks like a good option.

I can suggest Nananu-i-Ra Island in the north, about 2 and a half hours from Nadi Airport. Do a search for Betham's Beach Cottages, a self catering place on a beach with snorkeling and kayaking available. Their web site will give you information on getting there and a list of things you can do. You can bring grocery items with you and they also have a cafe. There is another similar place nearby called MacDonald's Beach Cottages - you can check reviews on tripadvisor. If you would like more information send me a private message and I will try to help.
