Learn to Dive & Stay

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I'm looking at packages that include the open water dive course & the hotel. I'm hesitating between the three following hotels/islands:

- South Sea Island
- Mantaray Island Resort
- Nananu Island Lodge

Has anyone stayed in any of these islands? Is there one in particular to recommend? (i.e. for the cleanness, quality of diving, etc...)

Thanks!

hey, I was looking for info on the three as well, if you do a search you will find what people have posted about them.
I don't remember details off hand, but I do remember that South Sea Island was touted as the "Backpacker/party" island.

Another one to look at is www.volivoli.com

Never ever go to Nananu Island Lodge or Safari Lodge on Nananu I Ra. It's overpriced and very basic. They make you pay in advance on the mainland before you have seen the accomodation. It's a lot better to stay at MacDonalds there. You can book a dive course everywhere. I would go for Mantaray. It's a really nice setting. South Sea only has a big dorm. It's a cheaper version of Beachcomber. If you want to stay really nice, go to Otto&Fanny on Tavewa. It's our favourite. There is a good dive company on the next island. They pick you up for free.
