looking for a secret place to stay.

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

we are a couple who are looking for a place to stay for around 1 week in fiji in the end of october start of nov,( we will be spending a week on koro island so preferably staying on the main island of suva or vanua levu would be the ideal place ) we are looking for a secret hideaway that is cheap as possible with access to nice things or place like beaches/ waterfalls/ villages/ culture/diving snorkelling and history we are not interested in partying, being part of the tourist crowd, air con, room service or the other flash packing splurges. all suggestions taken aboard.

I'd recommend Bobo's farm, on Ovalau, which is a short trip from Suva. It's great value, and Bobo is a wealth of knowledge on Fijian culture, history and the environment.

They have their own website now - http://www.bobosfarm.com

Leleuvia Island! (www.leleuvia.com)... Accommodation is basic (shared toilet facilities, no TV, no aircon etc), but island is beautiful!! And staff are amazing!! White sand, crystal blue water, great snorkelling & diving, they do tours to Levuka, a nearby village & another nearby island... Only FJ$160 p/n for bure (cheaper for dorm), FJ$45 meal packages (good food!), cheap drinks & free non motorised water sports (snorkelling, stand up paddle board, kayaks), diving, charter fishing & jet ski hire is also cheap... Being off the tourist track there are very few tourists... you will find a fair few Suva expats on weekends though... Leleuvia is about 30min boat ride from Bau Landing, which is about 15mins from Nasouri Airport (or about 45mins from Suva).... Awesome place!!
