Looking for cheap accomodation

Hello, all. I'm traveling to New Zealand in a few weeks with two friends of mine. Along the way we have a three day layover in Fiji. I would like to find a resonably cheap hostel with access to the beach. I don't need anything fancy. I really only care about a great view, cold drinks, and a place to rest my head. It would also be nice to be in an area with the option for a good day-long hike. Any suggestions for this time of year?
