This year in early Dec im meeting a mate for 6 nights for R&R in Fiji, Im a kiwi and have never been to fiji before. Basically looking for some recommedations from people who have stayed on the island resorts before.
We are both 29F and dont want to stay anywhere with kids or budget backpackers place with 18-23 yrd olds getting trashed every night.
Looking for a mid range place, nothing to expensive or too small. Not really fussed on nightlife as its only 6 nights. Maybe some activites like snorkelling but really just want a nice place to stay with a nice beach, good food and great hospitality.
Just wanting to hangout, swim in the sea/pool and eat nice food, drink cocktails and catch up with my friend- so suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I did just that last year when we were there in September. The food was great, but the chef left to go back to Scotland the day we left, and I haven't had an update on what it's like now. The beach is really nice, and the snorkelling is not too bad, although the days we were there it was choppy and a bit difficult to snorkel. They have alot of very comfortable lie outs around the pool and also on the beach. You will need to email them to find out their current rates because prices in the Yasawas have gone up recently. Mana could be another option - we thought the snorkelling was great there and the beaches are lovely. Even though the resort was full to capacity when we were there, at times we had the beach to ourselves. They have two pools - one is quite old and probably could do with being upgraded, and the other is newer but quite small, and each time we went to swim in it the lieouts were all taken by families with young children. First in first served I guess. There has been alot of criticism over the years about the food at Mana, but we always found it fine. There are a couple of restaurants - one which is great for lunch because it looks over the south beach and out to sea, and the other main restaurant where you would have breakfast and dinner. I have stayed at 4 resorts in the Yasawa and mananuca groups, and visited another 4, and found that none of them "had it all". In terms of evening entertainment Mana has more to offer than Octopus - and it is on a big island, has 2 beaches and another one about a 20 - 25 minute walk away. It has pools, space, great snorkelling, kayaks, and various levels of accommodation to suit everyone. Octopus probably beats Mana hands down when it comes to quality of food and the pool is great. Keep away from Beachcomber (late night partying), Treasure and Plantation (kids jumping in pools). Bounty is another option - they have a small pool and it's a great little island. Food average but may have improved. If you would like any more info feel free to PM me.

Food was plentiful and not too expensive. Nearby restaurant, a very short walk from the resort, was reasonably priced. Yes, there were some kids and yes there's not much nightlife but we were still able to chill out. Very freindly staff.
