Mamunuca & Yasawa- both?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hello, We are looking at going to the Mamunuca and Yasawa islands. We just want to scuba dive, snorkel, relax and would like to stay in places that are nice since it is our honeymoon. We thought that we would stay at two different places for a change but this trip is more to relax (ie, less moving around) than most of our travels. We had thought that we would stay at Navutu Stars in the Yasawa Islands and/or Nanuya Island Resort also looks great. Our first choice for the Mamunuca Islands is Navini Island Resort. My question is whether it is worth simply going to the Yasawa Islands (ie, stay at Navutu Stars and then Nanuya) or should we make sure to visit the Mamunucas (ie, stay at Navini and then Navutu)? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Nanuya Island Resort have a good dive operation plus snorkelling off the beach. Good food too! A second alternative might be to also spend some time at Wananavu or Volivoli on the north coast of Viti Levu or on one of the nearby islands where there is access to the Bligh Straight dives. Cheers, | 1
Navini is very nice but its a bit harder to transfer between the two groups than to transfer within either of the groups. | 2
I think you could skip the Mamanucas. | 3
Would definitely recommend Castaway Island in the Mamanucas. I have been there twice and it is perfect. | 4
Went to lunch at Beachcomber yesterday. Nanuya on the other hand is excellent food, on a much larger island (walk right around in maybe 2 hours) but only accomodates about 30 maximum, almost all couples. They are quite different experiences and it really depends on what you want. Cheers, | 5
over 2 weeeks you may even consider 3 places, its all very relaxing but i think id get a bit bored that long at just 2 places, the change of faces and places may be welcomed | 6
