Nadi Airport to SuvaCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
I will be flying into Nadi Airport on a mid-afternoon and intend to go as quickly as possible to Suva. Are there frequent buses from the airport to Suva that I can get on without prior reservation? I have seen timetables online such as this: http://www.fijibeachouse.com/fijibustimetables.html I wonder if there are other unlisted buses and whether the 4-hour express buses are frequently full. Thanks.
The fastest way between the Nadi airport and Suva is usually a taxi. It's at least a half-hour faster than an express bus, if time is really that important. There are also short airflights between Nadi and Nausori (code SUV) which is near Suva, but it often doesn't save much time unless the layover in Nadi is short. No reservation is needed for a bus from the airport to Nadi, and they rarely are full. Taxis are always waiting at the airport and the information desk as you exit customs is almost always open for a flight arrival. Sunbeam and Pacific Transport are the main Queen's Road bus lines. Dont panick, there are lots of express bus's that go between Nadi and Suva. Not just one You just stand at the bus stop out the front of the departure terminal and one will turn up. The all stops are out on on the main road but the express's come into the airport. Dont panick about time tables as Fiji time is real and they come along regular but you never know what time. Just wait They are usually airconditioned and quite comfortable. You ask the driver to put your luggage underneath, then you get on the bus, take a seat and the ticket guy comes around and asks you your destination. KEEP THAT TICKET, as they change staff some times and you need to reproduce. I sometimes take the bus to the Coral Coast and its $7.50 so double that to get your idea of price. They arent slow, they only stop for 15 mins at Sigatoka at the market so a great opp for you to jump out and have a quick look around and get some fresh food :-) then they are off again to Suva Enjoy | 2
It is really easy to get the bus from the airport, but when you get off the areoplane people will stop you before you get out of the airport and try to sell you tickets. You don't need them ,just go outside and find the station, I expect it is probably cheaper too. The bus ride is fabulous, it give such an interesting view of Fiji both outside the bus and on the bus. I would take that option over internal flight or taxi. | 3
I've taken the bus from Lautoka to Suva (14 FJD), and I'd recommend it. My experience on those buses was truly something out of a travel commercial - quite relaxing and actually fun to see the coast, country, and variation in different villages along the road. Not to mention yummy fried samosas at Sigatoka. However, this time I'll be traveling with lots of luggage (long story), which can be sort of difficult on those buses. So, I'm wondering what the going rate for a taxi from Nadi Airport to downtown Suva would be? | 4
