Nappies/diapers in Nadi/Yasawas/Mamanucas?

Hey there,

we're off to Fiji next week with our two-year-old. We will be staying for four weeks, so we will need a lot of nappies. Does anyone know where to buy them in Nadi and how much we would have to pay for them? Or if it's possible to buy them somewhere in the Yasawas or Mamanucas (we don't where we're going yet)?

No shops in the Yasawas, you might get them at the bigger places in the Mamanucas. My daughter always took nappies from home for her 2 (staying 2 weeks at a time), they don't weigh much so you could get a lot into the child's luggage allowance. There are supermarkets in Nadi, Morris Hedstrom's will have a selection, just don't rely on being able to get the ones you get at home. We always just had the little ones in swimmers on the beach, so you may not use as many as you do at home.

Hey, thanks for that. We're travelling for a year (so we're used to using all kind of nappies) and already got a lot of luggage (will leave most of it in Nadi though), so I've been thinking about buying most of them there.

Do you have any idea how much a pack of, say, huggies (size walker) would cost us?

They are also available at the small "supermarket" at Denerau, but will be much dearer than at MH in Nadi.

Please, please be careful how you dispose of them though. While I was in a village in Solomon Islands over Christmas, I realised that an in-law of the family I was staying with was throwing them out the window, thinking they would be washed away by the sea. Yuk! (Her youngest is 4, and should not really have needed them in the village situation at all).

You will be able to get diapers from Morris Hedstroms in Nadi town. Not likely in the other two places..
