natadola beach and sanasana

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I have a very special question:

My friend and me are going to fiji in august, and we'd really like to see natadola beach on viti levu. In the lonely planet I read that the couple Mia & Sara from the nearby village Sanasana offer quite cheap homestay accomodation, which would be just perfect for us.
The problem is that the guidebook says, you can only reach them over the only phone in the village. I tried to call them a thousand times, but just nobody answers the phone.

Does anybody know about Mia and Sara and can help me??
You can also contact me via icq!

thanks a lot,
south wind.

Hi SW

Maybe the village phone number has changed? I would just catch the local bus and ask them to drop you off at the Village, and then ask a local.
I wouldnt think village homestay accomodation would be in high demand so if you cant contact them, then just turn up... If they cant help I am sure someone els in the village will open their home.
Fijians are genuinely friendly. We picked up a lady and drove her to church on Easter Sunday and she was so friendly that she gave us her name, phone number and address so that we can stay with her next visit. She is super poor and offered us to stay free..(not that we would) and this is a village around the area you are talking about so I am sure someone would offer accomodation,,

If not then just jump on the next bus and head down the coral coast until you find a backpackers.. Its really easy to travel around this area :-)
