Need advice for budget holiday options around the islands..

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Looking for any advice on the options of travelling around the islands for about 2 weeks in August. We are currently in NZ and after a holiday so looking for lots of relaxing beach activities/diving/surfing/some party nights/somewhere with a pool maybe? I've looked at the Awesome Adventures Bula Pass and it seems to be a bit expensive once you add on flights and accommodation.. Are there other cheaper options?

And does anyone know a decent basic route that you would recommend to us? We are a young couple in need of a holiday! Thanks in advance.

The cheapest option is to stay on the mainland at a hostel, and use the public buses to get around. The drawback to this is that the beaches/water are not especially nice on the mainland. It's worth paying a little more and getting out to other islands, where you get the idyllic postcard-like Fiji.

Awesome Adventures is the cheapest transportation provider for the Yasawas. There are very few alternatives. I'm not sure if it is still the case, but it was cheaper to wait until you arrived in Fiji to buy the Bula Pass.

Okay sweet, thank you. Majority of the time it's always cheaper to buy when you arrive. Will have to start saving!
