Need bit of help deciding where to stay or what even to do please :) ThankuCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hiya, Thanks so much for reading this, but I am just a little stuck with what to do. I will tell you the full story about my trip... Originally I was going to be going to Fiji on my own after being a bridesmaid in Sydney in January 4th I land in Nadi 8th Jan and depart 15th Jan. I wanted to be on my own, and was going to do the whole 5 night trip with awesome adventures and with a 2 night hotel stay at say the westin or sofitel something like that. Then my boyfriend actually booked flights from England to Fiji - which is obviously a long way and was going to surprise me.....! Which is obviously very thoughtful and lovely..... But now I have to change my plans around - which in a way has worked quite well, as meant I have researched the trip to death and really found some amazing places, which i wouldn't have seen til i was out there so very happy about that. He lands on the 10th and leaves 17th, so obviously we are together for 5 days. Firstly I need help with knowing where to stay for the first 2 nights bearing in mind I am a female solo traveller, landing in Nadi at 18:45 on the Saturday evening , and needing to be back in Nadi Airport to await arrival of my boyfriend at 9:30am on the Monday morning. Leaves me with around 36 hours...... What is going to more cost efficient? Going out to the coral coast and staying at De Vos for like £300 all inclusive of meals n transfers, or staying somewhere cheaper in Nadi?? 2nd problem is - What do we do for the 5 days whilst we are together. Do we stay on a 4 night island hopping experience???? or do we get a lovely hotel on coral coast somewhere? Has anybody every used the Bula Pass where you go on the boat and its basically just transfers then you pick 24 hours in advance where you stay.....is that a cheaper way of working it out??? Thanks so much in advance and sorry about this but I just want our trip to be perfect but not super duper expensive if you know what I mean. I just want to enjoy the Fijian experience, lovely beaches, relaxation, seeing the beautiful islands such as Castaway island etc etc. Please help. Thank you Lauren xxxxx
The islands are much better than the Coral Coast. The Bula Pass works well if you want to try out a few different islands, but just booking direct transfers can be the cheapest option depending where you go. I don't recommend one of those packages that includes your accommodation - better to book it separately and stay exactly where you want. If I were you, I'd just tell your boyfriend to meet you out at one of the islands, rather than forcing you to linger around in Nadi or on the Coral Coast for 2 days. If you want the "Fijian experience" then stay away from those bigs resorts on the Coral Coast and Denarau Island. | 1
On your arrival night just walk out the front of the airport and straight into Raffles Hotel for the night, then next morning get the free pickup bus to the Denaru jetty and get the Yellow Boat over to Beachcomber Island and stay there, when the BF arrives in Fiji tell him to go to Beachcombers office in the airport to get the afternoon or earlier transfer from there to the wharf and a boat to go meet you at Beachcomber which will save you time and money and wasted trips there and back and back again. Both stay the night there in a Lodge or Bure then the next morning take the Yellow Boat up a few stops up to Octopus Resort or further up to Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. Tch is right and everyone but the mainland holiday package punters get the best out of beautiful Fiji out on the islands. Cheers, C. | 2
