Need some help please!

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hey,

I really need some help deciding where to go on fiji; its very much a last minute decision inbetween leaving one job in australia and starting another one on the 15th of April. I've just backpacked SE Asia and came to Australia on the same trip so i don't really want to slum Fiji, i fancy a quiet resort where i can do nothing, is beautiful, i can snorkel and maybe hire a scooter to dot about on.

I researched my previous trips in detail myself but with this i can't, i'm working a lot and don't have much time and i know there's alot of research to be done in regards to fiji!!

my budget is $1400, for 6 nights, and i've found flights for $440 so that's covered.

So around $1000 accommodation and spends. I don't mind doing an island transfer if Nadi isn't in budget or isn't as nice as the other islands,

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

Thanks

Don't hang around Nadi.
Go to the Yasawa Islands, maybe Octopus Resort or Nanuya Resort (smaller, quieter, bit more up market).

Cheers,
Peter

What Peter said. See if you can score a private bungalow at the Octopus for about US$95. Best deal in
the Yasawas.

My vote for Octopus too. No chance of a scooter though - no roads! But some good walks, visit the village, snorkel, lie in a hammock.......

Hi i've decided a big priority is amazing snorkelling, i plan on making a cool video with my gopro, im assuming that island has good snorkelling!?

Yes- great reefs surround Waya, which is an exotic volcanic island. Likuliku Beach-- where the Octopus Resort is
located-- has made it on several "Top Ten Beaches in the World" lists, and you can shore-dive the reef here.
For a preview, go to GoogleEarth.com and type in "Waya Island, Fiji."

Booked in at Octopus resort :), the reviews are almost too good too be true.. we'll see!!

You won't be disappointed. If you can, go on one of their boat trips for snorkelling at other than the resort beach. Not sure if the mantas will be around, but if they are that trip is worthwhile (the "Island Safari" one).
