Need to book accommodation in advance or wing it?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hey guys..
Just another quick question... I'm now thinking do you need to book accommodation in advance or can I book it the night before?
How busy is it in July around the different islands? Can I get away with not prebooking my stay if I wish to stay in dorm rooms?
Cheers & thanks again
Cass

hi, booking gets you a bed as July does get busy and dorm places other than Beachcomber aren't big. If you are there and want to stay longer you stand a chance of being able to just stay unless they have other bookings and so you would need to go. booking direct without paying without paying is sometimes possible

You should generally book at least a night in advance. I have been on a few resorts where people have turned up without a booking and there have been no beds. They will make a makeshift bed somewhere (like in the corner of the bar), but it is a hassle.
