New Zealand to Fiji

Hi,

My wife and I will be in NZ from November this year on WHVs and plan to go across to Fiji for a few weeks of lying on the beach for my birthday at the end of March.

Can you guys suggest the cheapest way of doing this in terms of flights and accommodation?
We are both in our late 20s and are happy to stay in hostels.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Tell us more about what sort of experience you are looking for? What is it that you want to achieve while visiting Fiji? then we can suggest cheap options etc

As far as flights go from NZ, I would suggest you look at the airpacific, air new zealand and pacific blue websites. Not sure if all have direct flights but a quick search will let you know what the cheapest deal is.

We're really looking to have a chilled out beach holiday for a couple of weeks. A backpackery place where we could meet other travellers in their 20s would be good and somewhere with good places to have a drink too.
We're pretty relaxed and like to have a laugh.

Any thoughts you have would be gratefully received.

I can see you are very demanding, you want the best of both world: quiet during the day and lively at night, meet other travelers, find a beautiful spot and don t pay too much.
Is that correct?

Overall there are plenty of "cheap" beautiful resorts on even nice island but it s alway a bit difficult to predict where it is going to be lively. My advise would be to do a bit of island hoping. Get a ferry pass from awesome adventure Fiji and hop' around.

Otherwise if you want to stay in one spot and don t move, have a look at:
Beachcomber island which is a bit of a party island.
Manta Ray Island which is a nice mix between party and relaxing time
and a little further have a look at Tavewa Island.
