I will be in fiji in Jan/Feb for just a week. Can you give me some tips as to the MUST SEE sights and activities? I am aware of the island that cast away was filmed but thats it. Any other islands that you can recommend?

Most of them can be recommended and many are easily visited, some less easily.
A week gives you time for about 2 and a boat trip past a few others.
An indication of your interests and budget would be of great assistance.

I lived on an island called Ovalau which I think EVERYONE has to go to personally! It's a brilliant island and feels like you're in a timewarp. The town is a standing relic of the colonial days and the entire centre of the island is jungle and mountains. The town called Levuka is a complete world away from every other (quite grotty) town in Fiji in my opinion. Ovalau is just east of Suva, you can get a bus - ferry - bus from Suva to Levuka and see a different world to mainland Fiji!

| bubblebath8917:39 UTC16 Apr 2011 | A friend of mine spent 2 weeks in fiji and she said it was only worth doing a week here so I'd thought I'd go with her suggestion and maximise my time in other countries such as Aus and NZ.
My budget I haven't decided yet but as I will be travelling so maybe a 2 or 3 star hotel. I have decided not to stay in hostels due to several stories I have heard so if I have the money I would most likely stay in a hotel.
In regards to Interests I would like to spend some time on a great beach, do a bit of snorkelling, see some amazing/well known sights - maybe a nice rainforest/waterfall etc. Also most importantly i will most likely be in Fiji end of Jan/beginning of Feb and I am aware it is rainy season then so any islands you recommend which have the most sunshine at this time would be great as well as islands with the best scenic sights.
