Private island for a day for two in Fiji?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hi all, A friend of mine told me that years ago he and partner went to Fiji where they were treated with a private island experience for just the two of them, but he couldn't remember the island's name. Does anyone in the forum know how to arrange a similar experience (even if not in Fiji)? His experience included a boat that took the couple to the island in the morning and brought them back in the afternoon, and they were given a picnic basket of food. They had the small island (islet?) all to themselves.
I suppose that could be anywhere .. even an isolated bit of coastline not easily reached by land would do the job. I suppose it comes down to whether you simply want a bit of privacy or whether you want to live an island-to-yourself fantasy for a few hours. One place that I know of is called "honeymoon island" on the outer reef surrounding Ovalau island (east of Viti Levu). There may be more than one such small patch of sand with a tree or two on it. The lagoon island resorts at Caqalai and Leleuvia might bring couples out there. The idea was an overnight stay (thus the name 'honeymoon island'), as that part of the reef is also an occasional destination for day-trip snorkelling. I don't know what would have happened if two separate resorts independently brought an aspiring couple to the same place on the same day for the same purpose .. | 1
A lot of island resorts offer that sort of experience to nearby uninhabited islands. | 2
The resort which is famous for this five star service is called Yasawa Island Resort & Spa. Vinaka. Dave | 3
