Proof of Onward Travel

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi,

We're backpacking across the Pacific — please take a look at our website — arriving Fiji on 7 September 2014. We don't have an onward ticket yet, and don't really want to buy one as we're not sure how we're leaving yet. We don't intend to stay for more than 30 days, but would like the option to try to crew on a boat. Does anyone know of a way of avoiding having to buy an onward ticket we don't have any intention of using...

Thanks very much.

you will not be able to board a plane for Fiji without proof of onward travel to leave Fiji

Thanks very much for your response — it confirms what we already knew. I guess we're trying to find a way around it. E.g. an open/flexible flight or boat, something like that. I'll keep researching. Cheers!

Your best bet is getting a fully-refundable ticket out of the country.

This might help find a boat....

It is north of the airport, on the way to Lautoka. Take a cab.
