Bula! I'm heading to Fiji this summer, I will be working in the Eastern Division the first month, then I will be exploring Qamea. What is the best way to get to Qamea from Suva? I have looked at flights from Suva to Taveuni and then boats to Qamea, it looks as if it will cost me around $300 to get to Qamea and then back to Suva where I will be flying back from, does this seem accurate? Also, what are the highlights in Qamea that I should try to see? I am open to hiking, kayaking, and any outdoor activities. I'm on a budget! Thank you!
Around $300 sounds about right----you can get to Taveuni cheaper by taking a ferry there from Suva also. I take it you are not staying at the top notch Qamea Resort for approx $1200 per night but maybe at Maqai Beach? They have pretty good surf up until June, good snorkelling, guided hiking, don't know about kayaks, fishing, scuba diving (usually expensive), excellent birds if you want to see different kinds, also plants. I don't know about other "sights"---won't be there till early June myself, but lots of things to see on Taveuni also. Might need to take your own mask and snorkel etc. | 1
