| maxwellbest14:43 UTC24 Feb 2007 | Hello
Looking to arrive in Fiji early July for 10 days and for the first part of our stay looking for somewhere nice to stay. Wanting a pool, nice room, good food, good beachs, snorkelling etc for the first leg of our trip, to recharge our batteries, hopefully I will be able to get some diving in later on. Have looked at the glossy Qantas brochures, some of the places look great, though pricey. Very pricey. Is the so called Coral coast the place to head first up? Is it better to book here in Australia or wait till we get off the plane. Getting some mixed messages about that one, at least here in Australia. We are in our forties and past hanging out with backpackers so at least looking for something a notch up to stop and flop for the first 4-5 days of our trip to Fiji.
Your input is appreciated.
Thanks

Very comfortable private bure for 2 with beach view (beachfront also available), fabulous food (really), snorkeling off the beach, diving available, great beach with sunset view, pool, low key activities optional, great service, great place to relax, mix of young and "mature" vacationers and world travelers. ~F$250 (for 2 people, including 3 meals) in Jan 07. I recommend booking ahead. The Octopus boat leaves Lautoka at 10 am daily. You would not be disappointed here.
Email them for current prices, the website is a bit out of date on cost.

Great views, food, diving, snorkelling and the new villas (bures) are great. They are doing work to the resort so they offer a discounted rate. Paradise used to be called Susies Plantation Resort - no longer a backpackers hangout. Staff are very friendly and helpful too. Coral Coast is OK, but Taveuni is spectacular for a few days or a few weeks. Also stayed at Coconut Grove on the island - also very good. Don't miss Bouma Falls while you are there.
