| cat81823:07 UTC28 Mar 2012 | Hello! On my way from NZ to the US, I have three full days in Fiji. I fly into Nadi at 4pm on day 1 and out of Nadi at 10pm on day 4. I was think of visiting the Yasawa islands since they're easily accessible from Nadi. I would love to snorkel, hike and learn more about Fijian culture. I can't spend too much time relaxing on a beach before I get restless :) Do you have recommendations for which one or two island I should stay at? Resort recommendations would also be helpful. II'm traveling alone and 'd like something inexpensive but a step up from a dorm room :) Thanks!

This will give you days 2 and 3 up until the afternoon of day 4. to enjoy an island. With only 2 nights I'd suggest picking one island to go to and I'd just try to get one of the $US75 private rooms at the Octopus Resort on Waya Island. Meals are an additional $US44. You'll be on Likuliku beach- rated as one of the top 10 beaches in the world- great swimming, great snorkelling and a great resort.

| kenko01:50 UTC29 Mar 2012 | Postscript: Waya has plenty of hiking- you can hike up to the 1500 foot apex of the Yalobi Hills and visit the four Fijian villages on the island- some of whom will be your hosts at the Octopus Resort.

Both retutn about 6pm so you could be at the airport for 7 (free transfer) shower and prep for the flight at the airport. Try Beachcomber in the Mamanucas as its good for single folks where as some of the other places better suit families or couples etc come meal times (Beachcomber and Octopus have shared tables so easier to meet folks). On your first night you can stay somewhere cheap or if you book in advance you could stay at one of the more expensive places on Denaru island, and you can easily walk to the night life from there.
