Scuba diving

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi there,

My mum and i (46 and 21) are looking at going to fiji for a week in feb. We went back in 2006 and stayed at Nanu-i-ra but since then has been sold. We are wondering where to stay, what we are looking for is:
great scuba diving (top priority)
nice beach for relaxing on
cheap accommodation (would prefer not a dorm, but can be very basic)
we don't want a loud party island

if anyone has any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

A possibility with access to Rainbow reef.

Check some of the places on Kadavu for Astrolabe reef, such as this resort..

These are just links, not personal recommendations.

You could also consider diving out of Levuka (no beach) on Ovalau island, or the nearby resort island of Leleuvia. Not sure about the diving overall, but appears to be a location famous for hammerhead sharks. Browse this site.

If you enjoyed staying on Nananu-i-ra then you could stay at any of the cottages on the island (Benthams, Mcdonalds etc.) and book your diving though Ra Divers based at Volivoli on the mainland. They can pick you up right from the jetty and they are an outstanding operator.
