Seclusion / Quiet area wanted

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi!

My partner and I are off to fiji next Sunday - we fly into Nadi. From there we are looking to go somewhere quiet and secluded with beautiful swimming beaches to relax on.

I've looked at some of the islands and the accom costs and transfer costs are quite expensive! I'm hoping someone can recommend a nice place - looking to spend up to around Fiji $100 a night (BASIC accom is preferred rather than hotel style..)

We are not interested in night life or shopping etc...

Thank you!! :)

We assume "partner" is the new code=gay!

Leleuvia or Caqalai Island might be the place for you - see www.levukafiji.com for more information. You'll find the links under "things to do".

Pago, In Australia, partner can mean couples of both sexes or either, but usually not married (though sometimes it is used inclusively for any couple living together, married or not).

Of course secluded and beautiful swimming beaches are going to be expensive... and getting there will be, too.

Paradise does NOT come cheap... Sorry.

If you find that paradise beach which is cheap and unknown, please email me... I can keep a secret.

Of course, there are remote and secluded beautiful beaches... But they will have NO facilities or accommodation.

HI There

Yes, anything secluded and stunning will be expensive... As a backpacker I recommend the coral coast. The accomodation along there is within your price range (minus the resorts!!) and its a nice part of Viti (main island) so no need for expensive tranfers......There is nice beaches amoungst the coral beaches, there is activities to do if you want to get out and about plus there is some quiet places to chill out if you want to be left alone.

I recommend a couple of places..
1. Valase Resort.. its a backpackers at Maui Bay Coral Coast... I have persoanlly seen their rooms and they only charge $55 FJD per night for their bures which all have ensuites... its a backpackers so basic facilities as in there is no bar but htere is a pool and a kitchen that you can cook meals in etc... if you pay 75 per night you get a basic breakky,, best you stop at Sigatoka and buy food and make your own as there a mini bar fridge in each bure. its right on the beach and its a nice part of the coast. Dont pre book here as their booking rate is much higher than their walk in rate.. they are never booked out.. you will need to do a google search for their number but any driver to the coral coast will know where it is and any bus driver will show you... its dead easy to find..... I recommend this place as its quiet and never busy due to them not having a decent website so it still hasnt been discovered so to speak.... and its close to things to do on the coral coast

  1. The beachhouse .... its further up past the warwick resort and its well set up for backpackers and families.... certainly not quiet as its quite popular with europeans and British packpackers but it has a bar restaurant etc and its also on a nice beach on the coast....everything has a price tag there but its well set up and its cheap compared to the resorts,,, htey have great massages there for only $20 per hour,, my family from the Warwick visited everyday as the resort massages where over $100..... ok so its not secluded but it has a nice beach for the coral coast. They have a good website so have a sticky and see what you think

I have a phone number for a guy named Harry that can pick you up from the airport and transfer the two of you for $80.00 (rate for March 09)

I also have a number for a guy who is the land owner of a famous waterfall in the area,, he can be hired as a tour guide and not only take you to the waterfalls but around the coral coast for a fee...March 09 the fee was $45 for the day but tourists have to pay for transport (either hire car or local buses etc) entrance fees to the places of choice and meals..... he can even organise a real Fijian Lovo at his house for $25 per person and the experience is great as his house is on the way to the waterfalls in the jungle.... quite beautiful. He allows tourists to ride horses to the falls too if that suits you better

I go to Fiji 3 times per year,, I have lots of locals who are my friends and I am happy to help out if you need any further information

Enjoy your trip :-)

Check out volivoli at volivoli.com. It is on the northern side of viti levu, it is rather remote and really beautiful. I got SCUBA certified there and it was inexpensive and incredible.
