Shore Snorkeling Fiji?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
My husband and I are planning a Fiji trip somewhere around Nov 2011 –Feb 2012. I am interested in finding great shore snorkelling, particularly with amazing soft corals. I saw a similar forum discussion dated about 4 years ago, I am wondering if there are any new “resorts” or areas? We also like to bonefish and deep sea fish, (if you have any thoughts on that too) also we are willing to spend money to fish and be nicely located. Nice accommodation is not that big of a deal. remote is good too -mid to high range budget. Thank you in advance for your time. Edited by: pepper27
Snorkeling is one of our main reasons for going to Fiji. | 1
Bonefish are found in all sub tropical and tropical oceans around the planet. That being said there are no flats to stalk Bonefish in Fiji so while you can try casting from shore toward deeper water expect very little.Extreme clarity means a fly line whipping over fish heads puts them down to stay-shore fishing is best on windy cloudy days. http://matava.com/ but all resorts have access to boats http://xstreemfishing.blogspot.com/ how modern locals fish. | 2
Blue Lagoon Beach Resort in the Yasawas has good snorkelling straight off the beach. I have photos if you want to send me an email address in a PM. | 3
mantaray bay is the best their ive ever seen all around fiji, go in the midyear months and you can also swim with the mantas | 4
have a look at Lawaki http://www.fijihomestays.com/homestays/lawaki-beach-house any closer to the water and you would be in the water See the video on their website and the fishing is GREAT | 5
Manta Ray Resort in the Yassawa group. Great beach, beautiful coral and tons of fish just a short swim off shore. The water around the resort is a marine park. Decent accomadation and food. You can get to this resort from Nadi on the Yassawa Flyer boat. | 6
